Plenty of firms in our line of work grow the same way: hire juniors, add account managers, and put a layer between the client and the person doing the work. That’s a reasonable way to build a firm. It’s just not how we’d want to be served, so it isn’t how we built ours.
We stay boutique on purpose. There are no account managers, no junior staff and no handoffs here, because we don’t have them.
